Adaptive Computing for mySAP™ Business Suite™ on Windows from Fujitsu Siemens Computers
PRIMERGY BladeFrame powered by Egenera passes the SAP adaptive computing compliance test for Microsoft environments with flying colors
Walldorf, Germany and Paris, May 31, 2006– Fujitsu Siemens Computers is offering virtualized server solution for SAP Adaptive Computing in Microsoft environments. PRIMERGY BladeFrame together with EMC Networked Storage successfully passed the SAP Adaptive Computing Compliance test conducted at the beginning of May. Now in addition to FlexFrame™ for mySAP™ Business Suite, the first certified infrastructure solution for SAP Adaptive Computing for Linux and Unix, Fujitsu Siemens Computers also has a dynamic platform for SAP applications in Microsoft environments. Companies can use PRIMERGY BladeFrame powered by Egenera® to consolidate their mySAP business suite platform and at the same time administer other Microsoft-based applications easily and transparently with the Microsoft System Center.
“Fujitsu Siemens Computers came up with the world’s first infrastructure solution for SAP NetWeaver with FlexFrame™ for mySAP™Business Suite™, which is already being used by more than 100 customers. Its success has revealed just how well the solution has satisfied customer needs. In the spirit of the Dynamic Data Center, the next logical step is to follow it up by providing customers with a solution supporting SAP Adaptive Computing in Microsoft environments,” commented Dr. Bernd Kosch, Vice President Alliances at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “PRIMERGY BladeFrame enables SAP users to virtualize corporate applications running on Microsoft platforms in the same environment, and in doing so reap all the benefits of our infrastructure solution. By taking this step towards a Dynamic Data Center, companies can significantly reduce IT infrastructure complexity as well as costs.”
“EMC is pleased to partner with Fujitsu Siemens Computers for their first SAP Adaptive Computing Compliance test on the Windows platform”, said Chuck Hollis EMC Vice President Strategic Technology Alliances. “The integration between EMC’s networked storage systems and Fujitsu Siemens Computers PRIMERGY BladeFrame benefits joint customers who demand for improved productivity, flexibility and total cost of ownership in their SAP environments. The scalability, performance and availability of an EMC CLARiiON networked storage system, which Fujitsu Siemens Computers markets under the FibreCAT™ brand, enables maximum storage utilization and comprehensive information protection. This solution can also be deployed with EMC Symmetrix® DMX Series for high-end data storage requirements. This combined solution provides even higher and predictable Service Levels in mySAP environments."
PRIMERGY BladeFrame is more than just a server
At the end of last year, Fujitsu Siemens Computers introduced PRIMERGY BladeFrame powered by Egenera as a further solution in its Dynamic Data Center strategy. PRIMERGY BladeFrame is a dynamic server pool in which the individual computer nodes are made up of stateless servers.. Together, they utilize virtual I/O interfaces mapped by the PAN Manager software (Processing Area Network). The integrated virtualization enables a free, dynamic allocation of applications to the resources in PRIMERGY BladeFrame.
The SAP Adaptive Computing compliance test demonstrated that this dynamic allocation of PRIMERGY BladeFrame resources to the SAP applications proceeds very smoothly. Consequently, any SAP application can now be made available at any time on any of the PRIMERGY BladeFrame servers. The result is a considerably simplified SAP infrastructure, a major reduction in operating costs, and a flexible IT system that is highly scalable and easily adapted to accommodate changing needs at any time. New disaster recovery options ensure extraordinarily reliable IT operation.
Integrated system management
What”s more, the server solution offers an outstanding platform for consolidating Windows environments and simplifying system management. The Microsoft System Center is a comprehensive solution providing users with (among other things) a system that is easier to operate, faster to debug and superior when it comes to resource planning. Adaptive Computing on Windows supports this optimized administration of the IT environment by integrating the PRIMERGY BladeFrame PAN Manager software with the Microsoft Office Manager 2005. One advantage is that the infrastructure solution can be administered transparently via a user interface.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers at SAPPHIRE
At this year’s SAPPHIRE, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, a diamond sponsor of the event, will present its dynamic infrastructure solutions for SAP systems at booth ER 2.10 (main hall). Visitors to the EMEA SAP customer conference being held in Paris on May 30 and June 1 will see for themselves how FlexFrame™ for mySAP™ Business Suite and PRIMERGY BladeFrame can increase the flexibility of their IT and enable companies to react more quickly to changing business processes and market requirements. Besides that, they can also significantly reduce total cost of ownership.
