Data center convergence trend boosted by collaboration between Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Cisco Systems
Large enterprise data center evolution accelerated by integrated, best-of-breed solutions
Berlin, Germany, May 10th, 2006 – At the Cisco EXPO in Berlin, Fujitsu Siemens Computers (www.fujitsu-siemens.com) and Cisco Systems® (http://www.cisco.com) announced a technology collaboration agreement, which gives a boost to the ongoing enterprise trend of integration between networking and data center management. The two companies’ agreed to work together on delivering combined data center products.  Through bringing together core network, server, applications and storage components, the agreement is designed to offer customers, who increasingly expect their infrastructure to deliver value as a whole, simplified integrated solutions and additional economic efficiency within the Dynamic Data Center environment. The global technology collaboration is effective immediately.
Designed to assist large enterprises that are following the growing trend towards tightening the integration between data center and networks, the addition of best-of-breed Cisco switches means that Fujitsu Siemens Computers can deliver greater flexibility and reliability for core data center components. This integration will provide large enterprise customers with increased agility and continuity in the way that they deploy computing resources, delivering greater business efficiency to meet ever more demanding service levels.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers will add Cisco Gigabit Ethernet switch capabilities to its PRIMERGY BX600 blade server range. In addition, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will make Cisco MDS 9000 Multilayer Directors and Fabric Switches available as components of its industry-leading Storage Solutions portfolio. These are integrated, pre-tested joint product solutions from Cisco Systems and Fujitsu Siemens Computers, available immediately.

Industry analyst Thomas Meyer, Director, EMEA Enterprise Server Solutions at IDC comments: "Integrating Cisco switches enhances the Dynamic Data Center offerings from Fujitsu Siemens Computers. Customers are asking for more integrated solutions and many see integrated blade servers as a stepping stone to Dynamic IT."
